A complete, practical assessment of English across six skills, reported on the CEFR scale.
Understand texts, notices, articles, and everyday material.
Produce clear, appropriate written responses.
Understand spoken English in different contexts.
Express yourself clearly and fluently.
Control structures and accuracy across levels.
Use a wide, precise range of words.
You can focus on the skills that match your goal. For example, an employer may ask for all four core skills, while an academic programme may emphasise grammar and vocabulary.
Results are reported against the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). As well as the main bands A0–C2, we use + sub-levels (A1+, A2+, B1+, B2+, C1+) for learners who sit between two levels. See the full level guide.
When your exam is complete and reviewed, you receive a certificate showing your CEFR level and a unique Certificate Verification Number (CVN). Anyone can confirm the certificate is genuine on the verification page.
Take a free placement test or an IELTS-style / TOEFL-style mock exam before the real thing. See practice options.
